The Nite Al
Al Ward, The Nite Al, has been a DJ/MC/Event Coordinator for over 15 years. His musical background started early in his life as he really enjoyed listening to the radio in elementary school while doing his homework. He learned to play the trumpet and saxophone in junior high school, playing in school bands and a rock band for several years through high school.
He continued expanding his hobby and love of music in college working as a DJ for the campus radio station at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was pretty well known throughout the campus as having an extensive record collection that he enjoyed listening to and sharing with others. While attending graduate school at Memphis State University (now The University of Memphis), he again worked as Disc Jockey working the 12 to 3 time slot and there became known as the "The Nite Al."
Al enjoys listening to and learning about a wide variety of music. If pressed, he will admit his favorites are 60’s Soul, 70’s Funk, and Frank Sinatra. At the top of his list for favorite artists (along with Frank) are The Temptations, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Al Jarreau.
Al’s love of music and outgoing personality combine in his dream job as a mobile DJ and Master of Ceremonies. His goal is to make sure the participants have fun and a night to remember. His ultimate reward is starting a song and hearing the joy come from his audience as they recognize a favorite tune. Then there is a rush to the dance floor and smiles all around as the party keeps on rolling.
